The VAV Gallery: Making A House A Home

Making A House A Home
- a VAV Gallery Fall Exhibition -

The VAV is excited to welcome visitors to our next exhibition for the Fall programming of 2021
Location: 1395 René-Lévesque Blvd W, Montreal, Quebec H3G 2M5
Time: Wednesday - Friday, 11 am - 3 pm

Curatorial Statement: (by Kassandra Walters)

The domestic space and femininity are often interconnected in our modern society. As we continue to develop society, traditional gender roles blur and ideas of what it means to be feminine shift. These works defy stereotypes and question the role of women in the home. What does it mean to be a perfect housewife? How do domestic objects re-contextualize when removed from their intended spaces?

Artists and Projects:

Isabelle Anguita - CHIMÈRE and POUR EMPORTER

Tiana Atherton - Home Makeover Quilt

Doune Patricia Thèbe - The doily: ongoing reality/ongoing work

Stéphanie Bourgault - Les maisons, ou comment je suis devenue une « housewife »

Émilie Bouchard Fortier - Softly Tied Up and The Roll

Enya-Morgan Heinrichs - Weaving Blood

Yasmeen Dajani - In preparation for the orbital winter
